BRAVIA S3000 Series LCD TV

HD Ready

HD Ready

To appreciate just how good a high definition picture is, it helps to know how TV’s, DVD’s and VHS worked in the past. Until recently, there was only one type of broadcast format – Standard definition - SD. With SD, the level of detail in the picture resolution is limited. SD has a resolution of 720 X 576, which means 576 horizontal lines of 720 pixels each. Pixels are the dots which make up a digital picture. The new HD formats boost resolution far beyond SD, giving your TV a level of clarity and detail that is absolutely breathtaking.

Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview

Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview

Having an integrated Digital Freeview Tuner means that your TV has a built in receiver that will give you access to many more channels without the need to have any additional hardware, such as a Freeview box. In 2007, the government will begin switching UK broadcasting to digital, so if your TV doesn’t have an integrated digital tuner feature you wont be able to view any channel without buying the additional hardware.

HDMI Sockets

HDMI Sockets

The S3000 has 3 X HDMI sockets – 2 at the rear of the set and one at the side.

Your HDMI socket provides a connection point on your TV that is able to deliver a high definition picture. Quite simply, the more HDMI sockets that you have on your BRAVIA , the more components you are able to link up to for HD picture quality, for instance, a Blu-ray player, your camcorder and your gaming console. Having the socket located in the front of the TV means that you no longer have to get into awkward positions or move the unit in order to gain access to the connection point, great if you’re viewing your photos on your TV via your digital camera.

BRAVIA Theatre Sync

BRAVIA Theatre Sync

A one touch control over your whole Home theatre set up. Simply press the Theatre button on the TV’s remote control, the TV’s sound turns off & the picture settings configure automatically to an optimal movie watching mode. BRAVIA Theatre Sync cuts out the complexity so that you can concentrate on enjoying your movie.

Live Colour Creation

Live Colour Creation

Live Colour Creation is a backlight system which produces a wider colour gamut, seen particularly with the red and green areas of the spectrum. So your TV picture will have more lifelike and natural colours with no smudging or dulling of the image.

BRAVIA Engine

BRAVIA Engine

This picture enhancement technology ensures that the image produced on screen represents perfection.

  • It reduces colour distortion by decreasing 'cross colour', 'dot crawl' and 'moire' the sort of distortion that you get on patterns such as a checked shirt. It cleans up the haze that you often see around lettering such as titles or text so that they appear perfectly sharp on screen.

  • It enhances specific areas of low contrast within the image giving an overall crisp picture.

  • It smoothes the motion, preventing jagged edges and bleeding colours on fast moving objects, ideal for sports & action sequences.

  • It matches colours, which ensures the final image is reproduced exactly as the original source intended meaning that you see incredibly natural colours.

Dynamic Contrast

Dynamic Contrast

Contrast ratio is improved and all shades between the brightest white and the darkest blacks are maintained, so the picture has more depth and detail. This is achieved as the backlight brightness adjusts according to the brightness of the scene. ’s unique dynamic contrast system features ACE (advanced contrast enhancer) which ensures all of the subtle shades of grey are maintained.

VESA Hole Spacing

VESA Hole Spacing

VESA-Standard or Video Electronics Standards Association is a perfect template for hole spacing (screw holes) in flat screens. So providing your wall bracket is also VESA standard, hanging your TV on the wall, for example, is a simple process without the frustration of drilling the holes incorrectly and in the wrong place.

    Disappointed.
I saw the KDLS3000 instore, saw all the positive reviews and felt confident about the purchase. However, the picture isn't as good as expected.I've tried adjusting the settings, including those recommended by Which and another Amazon reviewer to no avail. The picture is reasonable when viewed from directly in front of the screen but at an angle appears "washed out".
The set isn't a disaster by any means but I wish I had bought another Panasonic;my neighbour's new set only reinforces that view.

    Amazing For The Price!!!!
The perfect tv for me. Especially in my small bedroom. Fits perfectly on the wall and i adore it. Hooked up to my pc, ps3 and sky and i have no complaints! Buy One NOW!

I Have entered the LCD Age
Item could not have come quick enough, thought I would have time to ofload the old TV, but it arrived on the 2nd day!!! Brill
Simple Simple Simple.... Plug "N" Play...thats it easy peasy lemon squeezy! Even without a HD Player the quality of the picture is nothing short of brilliant. Glad I stuck to me guns and bought the 32", its more than enough for the front room.
Dont bother read anymore reviews, especially the ones that drone on...zzzzz!! Just order one, even the price is great. You cant go wrong.

    Brilliant
I eventually chose this model over many others in this size and I have to say it is fantastic-the colours are rich and vibrant, the design is understated, classy and the build quality is great (I prefer the plain black bezel to the tacky piano black bezel other lcd's have) and sound is fine for a 32inch lcd. I have an Xbox360 hooked up and it looks brilliant-really natural colours.

In short I would recommend this lcd, no problem.

. The best you can buy, no question.
Like many others i spent months deliberating over the endless 32" LCD's available. I did online research but i also conducted several "field tests" in stores and friends homes. I am no techno-geek but i have a good pair of eyes. I have friends with various size and model , Samsung, Panasonic and Phillips LCD's so i visited them over the last 3 months, compared them all working and made an informed decision that way. Samsung bezel looks very nice but picture is not very clever at all. Panasonic & Philips are good but have nothing on the Bravia. The colours are breathtaking and the sharpness of the picture is unbeatable. I spent 30 minutes tweaking the picture over several channels, comprehensive but straightforward menu's but once you get it spot on you will not get anything close which is not in HD. If you get it right you could be easily fooled into thinking you are watching HD as i have seen several HD TV's in action, despite this i will be upgrading with Sky to HD so i can't wait for that !. As for gaming i have a Wii (with component cable) and XBOX in HD and it is spot on.
My previous 2 TV's have been and i was tempted to stray before doing the "field tests". I will be looking in future for for a 40"+ LCD or plasma and also a projector for a home cinema room. I will not look at any other brand but . You know what you are getting with . The best.
If you are looking for 32" and this is within budget (should be as priced at lower end) stop now. Buy this at this price and you will not be disappointed.
